Enable participants to generate their own Statement of Accomplishment

If your course meets these four criteria, you may be interested in giving your course participants the ability to generate and retrieve their own Statement of Accomplishment:

  1. Self-paced
  2. Content is released all at once
  3. Course is graded
  4. There are no assignment deadlines

Contact Course Operations

To set up a Statement of Accomplishment, first contact the Course Operations team by sending us a support ticket via the “Submit a request” link in the upper right corner of the page. If you are not able to get to the Help Center, you can send an email to us at courseops@stanfordonline.zendesk.com directly.

We'll need to work with you and our engineers to create a Statement of Accomplishment template for your course. (See "Set Up Statements of Accomplishment for Your Course".)

Set Up a "Grade Me" Button

At this point, you can now set up a "Grade Me" button in your course.

  1. Go to the Course Outline in Studio.
  2. Click to create a new section and give it a name (for example, "Course Wrap-Up").
  3. Create a subsection and name it (for example, "Course Completion").
  4. Add a unit and name it (for example, "Generate Your Statement of Accomplishment").
  5. In the unit, click on the HTML button and select "(Grade Me!) Button".

  6. Click "Edit".
  7. Click "Settings" to edit the display name of this component.
  8. After you're satisfied with your changes, click "Save".
  9. Click "Publish".

At this point, you're done. Your finished product will look something like this:

As long as you have worked with the Course Operations team first to have a Statement of Accomplishment template created for your course, anyone who takes and passes your course will be able to generate his or her own Statement of Accomplishment.

Customize your "Grade Me" Button

If you want to customize any text or messaging in the "Grade Me" button, follow these next steps:

  1. Click "Edit" to resume editing the "Grade Me" component.
  2. Click "HTML" on the right side.

  3. You'll be taken to the HTML view of the button. The default code looks like this:

  4. The text that displays on the button to generate the Statement of Accomplishment by default is "Yes, I agree." To change it, find the <input type="button" value="Yes, I Agree." ... /> tag and replace the content inside the quotes with your preferred verbiage. Take care to not change anything else around this text.
  5. Click "OK".
  6. You'll be taken back to the visual editor of the button. From this view, you can edit the message that participants see on this page ("By clicking the button below...").
  7. After you're satisfied with your changes, click "Save".
  8. Click "Publish".
