Can't access my Lagunita account

If you are having difficulties accessing your account at lagunita.stanford.edu, the problem could be one of the following:

  1. Unsuccessful account creation.

    Many times, users try to create a Lagunita account with their preferred username but because the error message says the username is already in use, the user believe they have previously created an account. It is common that the preferred username was already claimed by a different user. In this case, you will need to come up with an alternative username until you've chosen one that hasn't been taken. 

  2. Incorrect email address.

    -If you have more than one email address, try logging in with a different one.
    -It is possible that the email had a typo when you created the account. If that's the case, the platform support team can help update the email address.

  3. Incorrect password.

    If you've forgotten your password, you can reset it by following these instructions. If you incorrectly enter your password too many times, you will be locked out of your account.

  4. Account not activated.

    If you remember going into your Lagunita account and enrolling in courses but find that you can no longer access the account, it is possible that you have not yet activated your Lagunita account after you first created the account. You will need to activate your account before you're able to login again. 

  5. Account on a different Stanford platform. 

    Stanford also offers online courses on Coursera.org and NovoEd.com, which are separate from lagunita.stanford.edu. You can do a quick Google search for the names of the online courses you've taken in the past to see what website they were hosted on.

    (Note that lagunita.stanford.edu used to be called class.stanford.edu. If you had an account on class.stanford.edu, it has been carried over to lagunita.stanford.edu and you do not need to create a new one.)
